joel decandio is a new york-based artist whose work as an actor and musician spans from mozart and shakespeare to sondheim and tennessee williams. informed by his experience across multiple genres and mediums, joel has performed frequently as an actor and musician in new york, dc, and internationally. he was most recently seen as jack hunter in tennessee williams' the rose tattoo at the tennessee williams theater festival and in productions of antony & cleopatra with the national theatre of ghana and the turkish national state theatre. previous credits include the tempest, cymbeline, a midsummer night’s dream, and folger shakespeare theatre's twelfth night. in addition to his work as an actor, joel serves as a collaborative pianist with tara rubin casting, having played for almost fifty shows over the past three years—most notably on the band's visit and the outsiders. in dc, joel served as music director and pianist for signature theatre's annual cabaret series. additional credits include torch song trilogy at studio theatre (dir. michael kahn) and the world premiere of beaches at signature theatre (dir. eric schaeffer; mary-mitchell campbell). he holds a bachelor of music from the rome school of music in dc and is a graduate of the william esper studio for acting in new york city. outside of his professional life, joel is an active athlete. upcoming: tennessee williams' the night of the iguana with abrahamse & meyer, south africa.
